LYRICS:

Used to live in my head.

Following the words that was said.

Talking to myself silently.

So many words that were unkind.

Creating this negative mind.

And you reap what you sow eventually.

Wake me up from this sleep.

Opening me up to a truth so deep.

Light me up where the darkness creeps.

Buckle up; this shit ain’t for the weak.

I hear the words Ghandi said:

To change the world,

You have gotta change yourself instead,

But it’s so damn hard to do.

Maybe that’s why things stay the same.

The suffering, the greed, the hunger;

We’re to blame, cause you know:

Misery loves company too.

So wake me up from this sleep.

Open me up to a truth so deep.

Light me up where the darkness creeps.

Buckle up; this shit ain’t for the weak.

The darkness never goes away.

I can turn the night to day.

With this little light shining inside of me.

When I close my eyes, I go deep inside.

Watch the stillness inside of me,

As tranquil as the sea,

Inside of you and me.

Wake me up from this sleep.

Open me up to the truth so deep.

Light me up where the darkness creeps.

Buckle up; this shit ain’t for the weak.

Buckle up; this shit ain’t for the weak.

This is a song Nick wrote about dealing with depression and how his meditation practice gave him the ability to deal with it. It was heavily influenced by Alan Watts and his discussions on how we are constantly talking to ourselves in our heads. This song is about getting outside of that framework of existence and taking control of your mind. Hope you enjoy!!!
